Fine Hair magic -

the right cut and color

In reality fine hair is hair that lacks "Guts". What is guts in hair you ask - guts is body and volume. It is not necessarily just thin hair.

It can be thick (lots of it) but if it has no "guts then it just falls lank and bodiless.

There is a big difference between fine and thin hair:-
This hair has a very fine or narrow hair shaft - each individual hair is much narrower than regular hair, there may be lots of it but because of the fineness it appears thin.

Thin hair can be hair that is regular, thick or coarse in its individual thickness, but be spread out and so there is not actually very much of it.

So - How do I give my hair more "GUTS"

- Use Shampoos and conditioners that have volumising or thickness boosting qualities.

- Wear Bob Styles that are blunt cut or minimally layered in the lower
lengths.
- The least amount of layering is best, as the layers - if too much it can put too much weight on your hair and make it flat.

- Use styling aids specifically designed to boost your hair.

- Trim your hair regularly - at least every 6 weeks.

- A good quality light perm or part perm will lift and give the appearance of more hair.
- Color - especially foils will add texture. The developer in color will swell the hair shaft up to 22% - improving texture.

- Use minimal styling requiring heat as this hair is more easily damaged. This type of hair dries fast so use your lowest heat setting.

- Only have an experienced hairdresser cut, color or perm your fine hair- it is not simple to cut, and is too easily over processed.

- Make hair spray your friend.

"I love seeing hair that is super fine cut into a concave bob " - i.e. a bob style cut shorter at the back. Fine layers cut into the back will give lift and volume into the back and sides of the hair. Therefore giving the fuller appearance of more hair.
