The magic of short hairstyles

Short hairstyles are the easiest hairstyles you will ever have for everyday styling! It is also the hairstyle that has the most visits to the hairdresser.

Short styles do require very regular re-shaping  at least 4-6 weeks- to keep them looking great.

Have you completed the 4 simple steps to find out what your hairstyle needs to "enhance your best and to minimize the rest" of your features.

By writing it down you have already a good description of the front of your perfect hairstyle. Now decide on your requirements

The majority of short hairstyles will fit into the 1st and 2nd of the styling requirements category in lifestyle considerations.

It is important that you find a hairdresser that will look closely at the growth of direction of hair at the base of your neck. They will discuss with you the options of length and shape.

This is why copying a hairstyle from a picture in a magazine or from a virtual hairstyle program will never look the same on your hair.

Yes it is your face - but- it is another persons hair texture and thickness, with "their" front hairline and "direction of growth" - so it will actually never look the same.

For any of these hairstyles to be 100% successful - the directions of growth, texture or thickness of your hair and degree of curl or body must be a deciding factor.

For instance it is very common for cowlicks- or growth wheels to be at the side of your hairline at the back of your neck.

If your hair in that area is 5cm or longer before it is cut - you will probably not be aware of the direction of growth. Quite often your hair will grow differently on either side of your hairline at your neck.

When this is not checked - you risk the situation of a fabulous short hairstyle that will not sit down on one side at the back - this can be a nightmare to control.

Your hairstylist   will advise you of the best cut for the back.

Go to "fast and fabulous" styling

***IMPORTANT- a great short hairstyle should look just as great from the back as it does from the front.

You may not see the back yourself - but visually- a bad or unbalanced shape at the back will spoil an otherwise beautiful style.

Direction of growth is also important at your ears especially if your desired style is hair sitting forward towards your face. This is not as severe a condition as the back as it can usually be remedied at how to style short hair

Basically a good short hairstyle choice will take into account the direction of growth all around your head.

You cannot cover all of this by yourself - you can determine your needs at the front hairline - but you will need a good stylist. to help you with the overall style.

In all my years of personal styling THIS is one of the single most issues overlooked by stylists.
