Step 3
Now you know the
features
you should enhance, and the ones that you
should minimise.
Lets look at any other considerations.
Glasses and prominent cheekbones-
Will draw a line across your face and
add width.
To
minimise:- no
centre parts, no heavy hair over the forehead
diagonal lines are definitely best.
This could be a
side fringe of any
length.
** Be sure that the side fringe does not settle on the
glasses and make
another
horizontal line.
Having said that a very narrow face can
benefit from prominent glasses
and
add width
where needed.
Wide forehead or receding hairline - -
A prominence of blank skin
unbalances facial features.
centre parts can work well if the forehead is hot too high.
The style solution is to ask your hairdresser
to
trim a
very short and light fringe/bang shaped around the
hairline from temple
to temple. This will correct the expanse, and give the appearance or illusion of a
new hairline.
Then wear your usual hairstyle over it - this works
exceptionally well (depending on the hair and hairline) as
it can give a
whole new face shape.
Prominent Ears -
Will
draw
the
eye across your face and
add width similar to glasses and prominent
cheekbones.
Otherwise and
this sounds
harsh if it is a real problem to you - have your ears pinned
back surgically.
Hair tips for your hair type:-
My hair is Straight-
needs body and lift. Use hot rollers, velcro rollers, blow-drying.
My hair is Curly-needs
control of curl, or smoothing of curl. Dry with large brushes to straighten and smooth curl, then iron if desired.
My hair is Fine-
needs thickening and body. Use volume products, hot and velcro rollers, tongs, and blowdrying.
My hair is Permed-
needs blowdrying for lift and softening. Use hot and velcro rollers, tongs, and soft blowdrys with round brushes.
Step 4
Lifestyle Considerations
This fourth step and hair tips will help you to match your
ability,
and
time you are prepared to spend styling your hair,
either daily or when it is shampooed.
For instance a short cropped hairstyle will
require a
quick
blast dry for volume and placed with wax when finished.
Long shiny hair with soft bouncy curls will
require regular
(daily)
styling with either hot rollers, iron, or hot tongs to
keep the
hairstyle right.
I do
have lots more hair tips to help
you along the way - and these will be covered on other pages for hair
types and hairstyles.
Our style
galleries have the relevant instructions with the styles
For now though hairstyling requirements will be
put into 4 categories and
you can decide which one you fit
into, and match with your desired hairstyle.
1. Minimum hairstyling
requirements- a quick blast dry using your hands
and fix your hair into place with a wax or dressing.
2. Average hairstyling
requirements- a quick blow dry using a round brush
for body, lift and control, fixed after with wax or hair spray.
3. Higher hairstyling
requirements- drying or
setting in sections for maximum lift and/or curl, or to smooth out
strong curl. Styling lotion required for hold, hairspray to finish.
4. Top-end hairstyling
requirements- usually for
evening hairstyles either up or down. requiring strong blow-drying,
styling and setting abilities. May also require pinning. Hair
professional preferred.
Any hairstyle you choose will require some degree
of effort on your part to look good between visits with your
hairdresser.
