How do I stop the ends of my hair splitting

by Maira
(Baltimore)

My hair seems to have split ends through it all the time, I go to my stylist and have her trim it regularly for me. Is there a way to stop the ends of my hair splitting?

Answer
Hi Maira,
Trimming the ends of you hair every 6 weeks will certainly help your hair with split ends - however there are other causes as well.
Hair is very elastic when it is wet and is more easily damaged making it more prone to break. A broken hair will almost certainly become a split end.
My tips:-
*Do not remove tangles from wet hair with a brush - only with a wide toothed comb.
*Do not tie wet hair back with tight rubber or elastic bands or clips. The same applies for dry hair.
*Comb the tangles from the hair whilst the conditioner is in the hair before you rinse it out. This evenly distributes it and tangles are removed easier.
*Always remove tangles from the bottom lengths and work up not from the top down.
Make these simple changes and you and your stylist will see a big difference at your next appointment.
Good luck
Sandra
