Let's style long hair.Shampoo and condition. ![]() Blast to almost dry 90-95% upside down for lift and volume. Apply heat protecting spray. Dry completely now upside down. Start at the base (back)- divide a section from ear to ear across the back, pin the top hair out of the way. Smooth with irons from scalp to ends. Move upwards in this way up to the top making sure that the irons do not spend too long on any one area. Re-touch any areas that need it as you go. Brush through with a good boar bristle brush, tipping your head to the side as you brush Finish with a shine spray, and tip the ends lightly with wax if fly-away or fluffy. ![]() Dry to 90 - 95% upside down. Spray in heat protecting spray. Comb through to distribute. Dry completely now upside down. Use your narrow flat iron (with tapered sides) Take large sections of hair. Start at about your ears, and tilt the iron holding your hair up to about 180degrees, then move down the hair and tilt down about 180degrees - forming waves that lift out and then in. Play around with this to get the degree of wave you want. Brush with a good boar bristle brush with your head tilted to the side - we do not want flat hair. Happy? A light shine spray and you are ready for the red carpet. ****Beach Waves" use this technique to achieve "summer beach waves" - just make your waves a little deeper and closer together - alternatively there are now irons/tongs available now called :"wavers" made specifically for this effect. Shampoo and condition. Dry to 90% upside down for lift and volume. Apply volume enhancing styling spray, all the way to the scalp. Dry using a large round brush (good quality) lifting up and out from the roots as you dry. Start drying at the lower back and pin the rest out of the way as you work your way up. ![]() Make sure that the ends are completely dry - otherwise they will fluff. At this point you would add clip in extensions for extra volume. Now you are done - your long hair is a full bouncy style. Use tongs or hot rollers to add more curl if desired to the lower lengths. For the big bouncy look - brush downward with your head tipped to the side and spray with hairspray lightly or a light wax. Tip your head back and gently place your ends with your fingers (don't brush) For curls - do not brush - tip your head to the side and gently run your fingers through to texturize the curl and spray or wax lightly. Spritz with shine tipping your head as you go. Shampoo and condition Dry 50% dry upside down for lift and volume. Apply curl enhancing spray to roots - mid lengths and ends. Rub right down to roots. Dry again upside down rubbing the scalp and running your fingers through your hair to the ends. finish when completely dry. ![]() Take random sections of hair and use hot rollers or curling tongs. roll up each curl and pin to cool - it will have more curl and bounce this way than if it cools falling down. Much of the Hollywood waves have the curl to the mid-lengths but the ends fall straight. If you love this effect - place your tongs into the mid lengths near your ear and wind your hair around the tong leaving out the very ends. This will give you the summer waves so popular at present. (There are many sizes available now in tongs - so remember the bigger the diameter the bigger the curl that goes for hot rollers too.) I like to start at the back neck area and work upwards - but do what you find works best. When finished go back to your upside down pose - run your fingers through your curls - stand upright and shake your head as you spray with hairspray for a full look to your long hair. For a sleeker look tip your head to the side and brush big sections of curls over your wrist and fingers. ****Always finish with a short spritz of a shine spray. Thicker texture hair can take more shine spray than fine hair - but beware - too much will make your hair appear oily. ****Shine spray in most cases will make the floor below slippery.
