Find
your best features and minimize the rest.
Start with washed and conditioned hair. Blast dry
hair to just damp - apply a gel or strong styling aid, then,
rub your hair and scalp all over as if you were shampooing your hair -
to distribute it very well, from the roots to the ends.
For fine or straight hair you
will need a round blow drying brush with a diameter of approx 2-2.5cm
(1inch).
For medium curly hair you will
need a round blow-drying brush 4-5cm (2inches) in diameter.
Very curly hair will need
approx 6-7cm (3inch) diameter round blow-drying brush.
See
our gallery of short hair styles with instructions.
Comb your hair into the direction each area needs
to sit when it is dry.
Starting at the back hairline is the best
way to style short hair (pin the higher areas out of the way
if
needed).
Very
short back :- brush down to flatten or straighten
your hair at the back hairline. Brush the
area flat as you blow-dry. Brush past the ends of your hair, to make
sure the ends dry flat, and do not curl up around the brush.
Hold
the
dryer high so the air is blowing down and not blowing the hair out or up.
Very curly hair may require drying over the brush,
stretching to
straighten. Then go over this straight away to
flatten as before.
Repeat this process around the ears and in front
of the ears.
Length
in the back:- you will lift out and under or up
depending on the desired result.
Move to the top and crown areas - dry using the
round brush - place the brush against your head and push
slightly forwards, roll the brush towards your hand - for the
brush to
pick up the hair.
Give it a slight stretch. Continue rolling and
stretching making sure that you have rolled enough that
the very ends
are not turned back and dried to form a hook or tangle. If this happens
the ends will dry fluffy and not smooth.
Repeat until the area is dry. Go over one more
time to ensure it is completely dry to the ends. When you
style
short hair or actually any length hair make
sure the ends a completely dry - damp ends will also dry
fluffy. (not a desired
finish)
For a dramatic round curl
effect on the top of
your head (as in our photo above). Use your round brush or
even a
size smaller and roll the hair up - stretching slightly as you dry -
hold to set. Repeat this making sure that the dryer is not blowing the
curls you have already formed.
Ensure that it is completely dry.
Now to the top front -(the top front hairline and
8-10 cm straight back). If the desired look here is for lift
or lots of lift then blow-dry using the round brush in the
same method as the top, except for the very front hairline which you
will dry in the direction needed for the style. If it is to
be worn over to the side blow-dry it in that direction.
If you have too much lift at the very front
hairline catch your
brush under your hair, and pull it straight down
against your face slowly, right past the ends, directing the air down
onto the brush.
This will give you light lift at the
front
and smooth down the ends.
For a flatter effect here use the same step but
place the brush on top of your hair. This will smooth and control the
ends.
For very curly hair you may get a straighter
effect by going a
size larger round brush.
Repeat the last step for the sides around your
hairline.
Apply a small amount of wax as in "fast
and easy instructions".

Do not brush or comb.
To place curls use the end of a tail comb, or a
long pronged fork will work as well. Place it through the
hair to the scalp and lift up and over in the direction you would like
it to sit. Do this over and over until it is right. Depending
on the desired result you could also try this on the top front, and the
back.
